Doctoral College

If you choose to do a Doctoral Degree with us, you’ll be appointed a supervisor who specialises in your proposed area of research and will be part of a much wider community of PhD distance students online. We know that doing a research degree is not just about writing a thesis – there are a whole host of other opportunities that you can make the most of as a research student.

Our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

Our VLE is the centre of your learning experience online. UWTSD uses Moodle as its VLE platform giving the most user-friendly experience possible. All our modules have been designed for studying at a distance.

You will have access to lectures and lecture notes, written and presented by our academics. The VLE abounds with learning material designed for you, from exercises and quizzes to forums that facilitate discussion and exchange of ideas. Your reading and further research is also facilitated by the VLE as it is your portal to the wealth of subject-specific resources in UWTSD’s Learning Resources Centre.

Library and Learning Resources

UWTSD has a very good Humanities library. As a UWTSD student you can access the libraries in all of our campuses in Lampeter, Carmarthen, Swansea, Cardiff and London.

Our expert librarians support our distance learners to find the right resources for your work, and to make printed books and articles available to you.
